Message When running higher boost levels it is very dangerous to lower timing after a problem happens.
If you had a problem and started detonating , A hot spot would occur in the cyl. If you then lowered the timing the cyl temps would go off the charts and kill the motor instantly. VERY DANGEROUS!

Cylinder temps go down when timing is retarded, and the low octane fuel maps dump 15-20% more fuel at the same time. Even given the same boost level, during a mode shift (to safety), the fuel increases which lowers cylinder component temps appreciably, and timing retards which achieves the same result. Its not just the timing that changes when it switches to safety mode and you can feel a gulp of power diminish when this occurs; of which also tells you something is wrong in the event you have a BC and it cant lower the boost pressure..
